Sony VAIO W Series Billabong Netbook Surfs Stateside for $499

Last week many sources were excitingly talking about the special edition Billabong VAIO W Netbook. At the time, there was only going to be an Australian version that would retail for AU$749. Well it seems that Sony has heard the cries of many surfer dudes and dudettes, since they will be launching the exact same model stateside.  Currently available for pre-order, the US version will retail for $499.99. The Sony VAIO W Series Billabong Netbook’s specs will remain the same, with an Intel Atom Processor (1.83GHz), Windows 7 Starter Edition, 10.1″ LED backlit LCD (1366×768), 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and webcam. It’s a shame that they didn’t make this netbook waterproof so it could be brought to the beach, but otherwise it’s totally gnarly dude!
