New York City Celebrates Internet Week with QR Technology
If you don’t live in NYC then you missed a very cool display yesterday of NYC’s participation for this year’s Internet Week. NYC celebrated Internet Week 2010 in Times Square by using Quick Response (QR) code technology, New Yorkers were able to instantly access information about online services and applications provided by the various different City agencies through “The City at Your Fingertips.” Folks just had to hold up their cellphones and users were immediately able to receive photos, messages, and links by scanning the displayed code. Information on 311, the Tony’s, and the Department of transportation were just some of the agencies participating in this display. It’s too bad it couldn’t stick around for longer, I’m sure many tourists would have used it.
