Bergdorf Goodman Skype's in at Akris Trunk Show

8Once again fashion and technology merged together and this time at Bergdorf Goodman. A small elite gathering of fashion lovers attended a the trunk show being moderated via Skype by Akris designer, Albert Kriemler. Mr. Kriemler was there talking away about his passion for the clothing line via his desk in the Swiss Alps. He Skype’d in via a 42-inch television and Logitech web camera. His reception seemed quite strong and you could clearly hear him. Only at few moments did his Skype reception seem to flutter and it seemed he had more difficulty seeing his own collection being displayed, because of where the webcam was placed on the TV on the NY side.
What was the most unique part of the demonstration, was him putting up a piece of paper in his webcam, similar to a Rorschach design, which inspired him to design a dress that was on the runway at the moment. Depending on how successful this trunk show turns out – it may be something Bergdorf considers doing in the future, to bring the designers even closer to their audiences, instead of on reality TV shows on Bravo.
