Samsung has unveiled the C800 series which currently takes the title as the world’s largest 3D LED TV. Despite its mammoth screen real estate, this TV is super thin and features Samsung’s new precision dimming feature, Samsung Real 240mhz, it is Energy Star 4.0 certified, and comes with Samsung Apps. It will retail for $5999.99. And to make buying a new 3D TV that much more appealing, this fall if you buy both a Samsung 3D TV and a 3D Blu-ray player, Samsung will throw in a special Starter kit that includes 2 pairs of 3D glasses along with an exclusive How To Train Your Dragon 3D Blu-ray movie, and two exclusive IMAX 3D movies – Into the Deep and Galapagos.
Speaking of Samsung Apps, Samsung also said that they’ll soon be offering premium apps from the likes of ESPN. There will also soon be a 3D Video on Demand App which lets you watch 3D trailers. They also said that they will be expanding their apps to include educational apps for kids. And in an effort to encourage more developers to build more apps for their TVs, Samsung has announced they will award one lucky developer half a million dollars for the most creative app. Developers can enter the contest at FreetheTVChallenge.com where an SDK is available to download. The winner and their app will be shown off at CES 2010 in Vegas this January.
