Win the Lenovo IdeaPad Z560 Laptop with Dolby Advanced Audio
Published on August 12th, 2010 | by Helena Stone in Cases, Contests
460According to research by Dolby Laboratories, a shift is happening in how Americans prefer to experience entertainment, with approximately 60% of surveyed college students now using their PCs, and not televisions, most for entertainment. The majority of students also believe PCs deliver the best overall entertainment experience and as a result, they expect higher quality audio to accompany the graphics quality they are getting on their screens. The survey also found that 77% like to listen to music using their PC and 70% like to watch video using their PC. This survey is no surprise to us since it seems like many people nowadays are replacing the TVs in their home with entertainment driven laptops. Because PCs are becoming such an important hub for entertainment in people’s lives, having a PC with that can provide you with a high equality audio experience is an absolute a must. Fortunately, Dolby has taken its audio expertise in movie and home theaters and brought it to PCs and laptops so that users can experience games, music, TV and movies, the way content creators intended them to be heard. Which is why, just in time for Back to School Season, we’re giving away the Lenovo IdeaPad Z560 Laptop with Dolby Advanced Audio! Dolby Advanced Audio benefits include: Audio optimization that dramatically improves laptop sound quality by compensating for response irregularities in the speakers built into your laptop, Dolby Headphone enables a great surround sound experience and works with any set of headphones, and finally, Dolby Advance Audio also intensifies the PC audio experience with natural bass and a high frequency enhancer that delivers sound that’s more realistic and more dramatic than ever before. The Lenovo IdeaPad Z560 laptop also features an Intel Core i3-350M Processor, Intel HD Graphics, 15.6″ HD Display, 3 GB Memory, and 500GB Hard Drive.

Update 1/16/11: Our winner sent in a thank you letter! Check it out
First of all, I’d like to say thank you for your contests.
I’ve used my share of laptops for my music production, and being in college
I have to load a lot of different programs on my laptop which makes it
really slow. Once you use up so much memory, basic performance such as
Internet browsing and uploading and downloading files really suffers. With this Lenovo IdeaPad Z560, I’m not having that problem. It’s lasted a
whole semester worth of schoolwork and still performs at the same speed it
did when I took it out of the box. Also, a lot of my music software has
slowed down my laptops in the past, and I haven’t had that issue yet either.
I’m loving the Dolby digital sound performance and just the overall look of
the IdeaPad. It’s not too big, and still portable enough to just slip in my
book bag and carry around all day.As I mentioned, I work with music a lot in my free time and I’m always
mixing and mastering my own tracks. The speakers being mounted on top
instead of somewhere in front or to the side makes it easy to hear all the
highs, mids, and lows while not having to put my ears to the speakers. It’s
a fuller, more natural sound that almost makes you forget you don’t have any
external speakers plugged in. That makes it easy to work in a lab on campus
between classes where I wouldn’t have access to my speakers. The HD display is something I didn’t think I needed until I actually turned
up the brightness and started doing my album cover editing. Looking back on
the covers I’d designed on my old laptop, I noticed that they weren’t really
that good or very clear. Presentation is very important to me, and this
Lenovo IdeaPad has made photo editing (both online and with Photoshop)
faster and more clear. The only con I can think of is the raised keys, which I’m not a huge fan of
because of the dust that has built up under them. Besides that, this is one
of the best laptops I’ve used and is certainly better than any I’ve ever
owned. My music certainly sounds better now and when my music sounds good,
I’m a happy camper. Thanks for the amazing product and I look forward to
more in the future.
