Apple Removes Nazi Marching Song from German iTunes

banned Apple Removes Nazi Marching Song from German iTunes

I hope Jesse James isn’t too upset by this, but Apple has removed the Nazi anthem from the German version of iTunes. The marching song “Horst Wessel Lied”, was the unofficial anthem and marching song used by the infamous Nazis. The song itself was banned after World War II and should stay that way. However, it is unclear if other popular Nazi tunes will be taken down from the German iTunes. Baby steps I guess.

“The song itself was banned after World War II and should stay that way.” I agree the song is ugly and inappropriate, and Apple has every right to not sell it (and their customers have every right to complain if they do). However, the idea that music, book or any other form of speech should be banned by the government is a very ugly and scary idea. And an odd one coming from an internet writer. Glad I live in the USA.
