Commodore 64 Officially Debuts, But is it Overpriced Junk?

It has been a long time coming, but the rebirth of the Commodore 64 PC has finally happened. And dang,  it’s pretty overpriced! After years of teasing us with concept art, the new Commodore 64 is finally available to purchase. Pricing ranges from $250 for a bare-bones case to $895 for a C64x Ultimate system running on an Intel Atom D525 1.8GHz Dual Core CPU with NVIDIA ION 2 Graphics, a 1TB hard drive, Blu-Ray drive, 4GB of ram, WiFi and Bluetooth, and a card reader all built-in. And forget Windows 7, the system comes running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Plus a version of Commodore OS 1.0, along with emulation functionality and classic game package will supposedly be mailed to purchasers once it becomes available. But if you’re still not convinced to pick up this retro-tastic system, check out this Tron-inspired promotion video that they have created to get you more in the mood.
