It’s no secret that we’re quite taken with Dropcam, a super simple home surveillance solution that lets you keep an eye on your home remotely without the need for a surveillance camera to be dependent on a PC. Well D-Link’s latest network camera, the D-Link DCS-932L looks to compete with Dropcam. Heck, the camera itself even looks similar to Dropcam’s own camera. The DCS-932L camera is designed for both day and night use, so it features infrared illumination for viewing in the dark. Users can also watch their surveillance stream in from any web browser, using the Mydlink portal, or on their smartphone or tablet by using the mydlink iPhone, iPad, or Android apps. The camera itself is also wireless and has built in Wireless N, plus it’s totally independent of a PC, so your PC doesn’t have to be turned on for it to stream. However, the DCS-932L does come with D-ViewCam camera management software for PCs which allows users to record video from the camera onto their hard drive. Other features include motion detection and email alerts. The D-Link DCS-932L is going for as little as $130 on Amazon, which is actually cheaper than Dropcam’s cameras.
