This morning Lady Gaga and Polaroid unveiled a special interactive window display at Bloomingdales which showcases their first Grey Label product, the GL10 Instant Mobile Printer. Bloomingdales customers and passerby can now experience the storefront window display which was designed in collaboration with the House of Gaga, and they can even have some fun by becoming apart of the exhibit themselves by getting their picture taken and printed on the spot. All they have to do is stand on the Polaroid logo emblazoned on the sidewalk and their picture will be taken by the Gaga dummy behind the window. Almost immediately, their photo will be printed out on the other side of the glass window. This interactive storefront window display really is a fun and unique way to showcase what the GL10 mobile printer is all about.

The GL10 Mobile Printer is designed to free the photos from the prison of your smartphone. Gaga said she was inspired to design this printer because smartphone cameras are the future of the camera. The GL10 weighs just 15 ounces and is able to print from a phone wirelessly using Bluetooth.  Currently there are apps available for it on Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Android, but there is no word on an iPhone app yet.  The Polaroid apps for the GL10 let you wirelessly print pictures off of your smartphone, and the apps can also throw some neat effects onto the photos too. The device prints 3″x4″ prints in under 50 seconds and it also has Pictbridge support.

At the storefront unveiling, Polaroid made sure to emphasize that Lady Gaga truly is their creative director, and that the GL10 and the other products announced at CES, are just the first of many.

“Everyday, digital photos capture, memorialize and shape our lives – but they are not given the chance to inspire us because they die on cell phones or digital cameras,” said LadyGaga. “I created the GL10 because everyone loves to take photos with their mobile phones – and the next evolution is to combine digital images with instant photography, bringing photos to life in vibrant colors that you can share, from the palm of your hand.”

Currently, the printer is available exclusively at Bloomingdales. However, the printer will be available for pre-order on Polaroid.com and HSN.com starting tomorrow. It will become available nationwide, outside of Bloomingdales, starting on June 20th for $169.99, with packs of paper containing 10 sheets retailing for $19.99. We’ll have a full review of the printer up soon.
