T-Mobile has announced that the HTC Wildfire S will be landing soon for just $79.99 after a $50 mail in rebate. The device runs the lovely HTC sense UI and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Unlike many of the other Gingerbread smartphones coming out with massive displays, the Wildfire S has a more petite form-factor with a 3.2 display. It also sports a 5MP camera, and an on-screen keyboard with Swype.
It’s nice to see that more affordable, yet still powerful smartphones are starting to land on the market. We were really getting sick of the $199 price-point that so many Android smartphones are selling for. But it finally looks like budget Android phones are rolling to market, without sacrificing much.
The HTC Wildfire S will be available starting August 3rd. An exclusive black version will also be available at Walmart.
