bb BlackBerry App of the Week: BlackBerry News Gets an Upgrade for the PlayBook

In June, BlackBerry turned out an iteration of BlackBerry News for its new tablet line, the PlayBook. That app is getting a little upgrade now, mostly with small utility changes. Portrait mode is supported for all screens now, and all articles that you have read will be marked as ‘read.’ Your home screen will also sport new content notifications. Thankfully, you can now move back and forth between articles while in article view, and you can view a feed directly right after you subscribe to it. Rounding out the upgrades are channel updating through data tethering and channel switching in magazine view.Nothing here is especially exciting, but it all makes the app a little smoother and more user friendly, so look forward to a better news reading experience if you’re a PlayBook owner. You can also now import your Google Reader subscriptions, which is a nice little time saver. The BlackBerry News App is available for free from BlackBerry App World.
