It has been almost a year since the original rugged Motorola DEFY came out, and now Motorola has announced the new Motorola DEFY+. This announcement comes hot on the heels of their announcement that Google is purchasing the company. In any case, the new Motorola DEFY+ doesn’t really look different than its predecessor, but it should be tougher and better than ever. The phone is being touted as “life-proof”, and rightfully so. The phone is water-resistant, dust proof, and it features scratch resistant 3.7″ Corning Gorilla Glass display. Motorola promises that it can survive a rain shower, a day at the beach, a tough workout, and an all night party. The phone also comes preloaded with a CardioTrainer application so that it really can become your workout buddy.
Under the hood, the DEFY+ is powered by a somewhat modest, but capable spec list including a 1GHz processor, it’s running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the MOTOBLUR U.I., and it’s packing in 2GB of internal memory, a microSD slot, plus a 5MP camera with auto focus and flash.
The Motorola DEFY+ is expected to reach markets in Asia, Europe and South America, where the previous DEFY has been very popular. But being that the original DEFY was available through T-Mobile in the U.S., we’re confident that the new DEFY+ will make its way here too.
