Hands-On with the Bose Soundlink Wireless Mobile Speaker

bose Hands On with the Bose Soundlink Wireless Mobile Speaker

While Bose might be traditionally known for their premium home theater systems, with their new Bose Soundlink Wireless Mobile Speaker, they have ventured out into a new territory for their speakers. Bose has packed in a lot of time and effort into this new wireless speaker to make sure that it provides great performance, and durability, despite being mobile. We got to experience this mobile speaker hands-on, and unlike so many of the other wireless speakers we have listened to in the past that often sound tinny and lack bass, the Bose Soundlink provides amazing, and very powerful sonics for a such a small sized – and also wireless, speaker system.

The Bose Soundlink Wireless Mobile Speaker measures less than two inches thick and is about the size of the average book. Although it’s not the smallest portable speaker out there, it’s designed to be able to be thrown into a purse or briefcase. Bose has guaranteed that the system is durable enough for every day use by making sure it is able to resist salt-fog, sand, wind, and moisture. The system should also be able to withstand repeated drops.

The speaker’s design packs in a fashionable integrated cover that is able to unfold into a stand. The cover also works as an on/off switch. Open it, and the speaker is ready to go. Close it, and the speaker turns off. These covers are user replaceable and come in several colors.

Under the hood, the system combines four low-profile neodymium transducers for clear-high and mid-frequencies, with new dual-opposing passive radiators that manage to eliminate vibration. In addition, the speaker uses Bose digital signal processing algorithms to help reproduce instrument definition and detail at all volumes.  The Bose Soundlink Wireless Mobile Speaker also packs in A2DP for streaming music while web browsing, texting and emailing. Finally, the system runs off of a rechargeable battery and is able to last for more than 3 hours on a charge at high volume, or up-to 8 hours at more normal volumes.

The Bose Soundlink Wireless Mobile Speaker will retail for $299.95 and comes with a dark gray nylon cover at that price. For $349.95, you can pick up the mobile speaker with a brown leather cover. Additional leather covers are available in burgundy or tan for $49.95, and nylon colors in red and purple are available for $29.95.
