Looking to jump on the Android smartphone bandwagon, but you’re on a budget? Well the new Huawei Impulse 4G might just be right up your alley. The Impulse 4G costs just $29.99 yet manages to be a full fledged smartphone that runs Android. Granted, it’s just Android 2.2 Froyo, and not Gingerbread. But for just under $30, who can complain? The phone also features a 3.8” Capacitive WVGA Touchscreen, a 5MP Camera with auto-focus, flash, and 720p HD video recording capabilities, built-in Wi-Fi and GPS, and it measures 120mm x 65mm x 11.6mm.
As for Huawei, they may not be well known on this side of the Globe, but in China they are actually the biggest networking and telecommunications equipment supplier. That said, the $29.99 price tag does require a 2 year contract with AT&T, which isn’t all that enticing. Regardless, we’re happy to see more attractive budget smartphone options showing up, especially ones with 4G HSPA+ support. The handset can also be used with an AT&T Data Plus plan, which includes 200 MB of data for just $15 dollars a month.
