The desktop phone. Aren’t those dying out? Well, Invoxia doesn’t think so and at IFA 2011 they are bringing the old standby back, with a sleek business-oriented twist. The Invoxia NVX 610 is basically a dock for iOS devices that connects the mobile device to a desktop handset for business calls while you’re at your desk. It sports a conference mode that imitates a surround-system well enough to trick you into thinking you’re talking to someone in the room with you, and the acoustic technology at work minimizes echo and improves background noise cancellation.
The Invoxia NVX 610 works with a free app from the iTunes App Store (it’s worth stressing that this handset is only for iOS devices). Mobile and professional contacts will be merged into one directory. The handset also functions as a separate landline – you can receive calls directly on it, without use of the iOS device. When the iOS device is docked, though, you can use the handset to answer calls being received on your mobile phone. You can also use the iOS device as a dial pad for the handset.
The Invoxia NVX 610 is sleek and looks like it means business. The price point means business, too. The NVX 610 costs $599. It is compatible with 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, and iPad.
