Mobile devices have quickly become the hottest new gaming platforms on the market. After all, it’s hard to argue with $0.99 games versus $35 or $60 games. The only drawback, at least for the gamer crowd, is that the graphics quality and depth of play aren’t at the level as console gaming. Games like Shadowgun, coming to the iPad on September 28th, are looking to change that conversation. The PR for the game boasts console quality graphics – an exaggeration when compared to the current spate of upper tier console games.
Even still, Shadowgun looks very impressive – it’s unlikely that the iPad would have been your first guess for this game’s platform. The environmental textures and lighting – usually the parts that suffer most in mobile games – are exceptionally crisp and clean. Will Shadowgun sport console-quality gameplay (or at least something close to it)? That remains to be seen. Keep an eye on Shadowgun’s September 28th release on the iTunes App Store.
