Big deal, so you can pay for things with your smartphone using Google Wallet. But what about with your wristwatch? There would be no App required or even a smartphone at all. That is about to become possible with this latest watch from RumbaTime, which combines tap and pay technology, emergency identification, and a trendy digital chronograph all in one. Just wave your watch at any retailer that uses a tap and go payment system and the amount will be deducted from your account.
VanDam Go will be powered by Vita, the company that will hold your emergency identification, as well as your funds, essentially turning your watch into a cashless payment system. All you will need to do is link your watch to a credit card or bank source for funding and you will be on your way.
Overall, the watch has two functions. Firstly, it’s a fashionable credit card of sorts, and secondly it works as a hi-tech version of a medical ID bracelet. Because not only can you pay for things with it, you can also store your emergency contacts, health specifications and ID. So in case of an emergency and all you have on is this watch, loved ones can be contacted.
The VanDam Go is made of a water-resistant silicone and is available in small, medium and large. This is truly the perfect watch to wear to the gym or while jogging, so that you don’t have to carry around your smartphone or money with you. The VanDam Go will also come in the colors black, white, hot pink, orange and a few other colors. It will be launching in November for just $35. But there is no word yet if there is a separate cost to utilize the Vita technology.
