Well we knew it was coming, and today it finally debuted – the inaugural HTC and Beats by Dr. Dre smartphone, the HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio.
This new sleek ( only 9.9mm thin) audio thumping mobile device had its coming out party in London, where it was greeted by Lady Gaga, Eva Simmons, Cheryl Cole and will.i.am – just to name a few. The new HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio takes some design cues from the original HTC Sensation as well as the upcoming HTC Titan. It features a 4.7 inch screen, SRS surround sound, Beats Audio technology, an 8MP camera with 720p HD Video recording, the HTC Sense UI, and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera.
It also appears that Europe may not be the only ones to acquire this new phone, since it will support Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks.
Of course the icing on the cake is the beats audio technology. The HTC Sensation XL will automatically detect when you use Beats by Dr. Dre headphones and output the music accordingly. Staying true to the Beats by Dr. Dre mantra “you’ll hear sound just the way the artist intended. ” HTC has also developed HTC Sync technology which enables the Sensation XL to automatically sync with iTunes or any music folder on your Mac or PC. They are also throwing in some free extra DropBox storage for you to use to store your music on in the cloud. This is undoubtedly their attempt at competing with iCloud. With this new technology in place, HTC along Beats by Dr. Dre are attempting to compete with the iPhone, by not only being innovative but also stepping outside the box, by mixing technology, music and pop-culture into one device.
There is no word yet on the pricing or a release date, but we anticipate that the Sensation XL will be hitting very soon across the pond or perhaps even stateside. So stay tuned…
