It isn’t all that difficult to figure out how to make an exercise bike more entertaining. After all, all you have to do is throw on a display for videos, and it’s all set. That said, coming out with a way to make an exercise bike more challenging is quite a bit more tricky. But that is just what the guys over at Power Plate have done. Their PowerBIKE uses vibration to increase the level of resistance, which in turn stimulates active involvement of all the primary cycling muscles, including hamstrings, glutes and quadriceps, while also improving circulation. As a matter of fact, the Dutch professional cycling team, Rabobank has been using the PowerBIKE in training.
There is no word on pricing yet for the PowerBIKE yet, but you can bet that it wont come cheap since PowerPlate’s other devices, which are also vibration based, run upwards of 2K on average.
