In a world where all iPhone docks more or less look the same, the new iP4 Stereo Boombox for iPhone/ iPod from iHome blows us away. That’s not to say that its boombox design hasn’t been done before. After all, Lasonic came out with an iPod Boombox quite a while back in 2008. But iHome is the first traditional iPhone/iPod Dock company to take such a retro and fun turn with their speaker systems.

One of the neatest aspects of the iP4′s design is its LCD display with a 5 band graphic equalizer. More specifically, the boombox has 5 adjustable EQ sliders that “let you fine tune your tone”. The boombox also features 4″ carbon composite woofers and a 1″ ferro fluid cooled tweeter with a total 15 watt output, an FM radio, and an aux line-in jack. The system can operate on six D batteries, or via an AC adapter. A matching magnetic remote control is also included that resembles the Apple Front Row remote.

At this time, the iHome website is only showing renderings of the iP4 Portable FM Stereo Boombox for iPhone/iPod, but Urban Outfitters has some actual photos of the device and it looks nothing short of amazing! The iP4 Portable FM Stereo Boombox for iPhone/iPod is available in a choice of gray or black and it retails for $199.
