Google Currents is a magazine-style reader that opens up special editions of certain major publications, while reshaping your Google Reader account into a more visually appealing form. High-quality images add the window dressing, and publishers like Forbes and TechCrunch are signed on and providing articles, videos, photography, slideshows, maps, and social streams as content for Google Currents.

The defining aspect of Google Currents is the trending edition. Trending editions uses Google search algorithms hourly to find out what is trending in different news categories to produce a magazine-style edition focusing around that trending topic, complete with articles, images, and video.
