iPhone App of the Week: Strike Back at Rude Cabbies With Report a Taxi

Let’s see. I have been kidnapped in a Taxi. Screamed at for not giving more than a $2 tip. Taken completely out of the way for what should have been a 10 minute trip and told more than inappropriate tales from the driver.  So Report a Taxi App would have been ideal for me on many of these occasions.

Download Report a Taxi, free now from the iTunes App Store, and file a complaint right from your iPhone. The reporting system is clean and fast – enter the medallion number, select a problem (or enter a custom one), and enter date, time, and location. Your complaint will be sent instantly to the Taxi & Limousine Commission. Who knows, if this app becomes big, just whipping out your iPhone within view of a cantankerous cabbie will get him to change his tune. Android and BlackBerry versions are said to be coming soon. As of now, Report a Taxi currently only works for New York City, but developers Y Interact are promising a global roll-out in the near future.
