With all relevant disclaimers about leaks and rumors given, the photo above could be a first glimpse at what the next-gen BlackBerry phone will look like. It’s an updated look at the phone currently called the BlackBerry London, which looks thinner and sleeker than what was leaked in November of last year. The leaked shot doesn’t give a whole lot of detail outside of some hastily-conceived marketing-speak, but word is that anything running BlackBerry 10 will be slated for release late this year. November has been suggested, and makes the most sense, if Research in Motion wants to stay competitive in the smartphone market heading into the holiday season.
The leaked view of the BlackBerry London resembles a smaller BlackBerry PlayBook, which for a lot of consumers out there might not amount to a positive association. It is possible that the phone could be QNX-based, like the PlayBook, in case that inspires excitement in anyone. Research in Motion hasn’t said anything about the leak, and likely won’t, so we’ll still need to wait some time to hear solid details on what BlackBerry 10 will bring when it hits later this year.
