Drugstore chain CVS has announced a new program that allows customers to sign up for text notifications when prescriptions are ready. Once prescriptions are filled, those that join the program will receive a text message immediately. The program is free, with the only costs incurred being any data or texting charges levied on the part of the customer’s wireless carrier. Texts in Spanish are also available through the program.
CVS isn’t new to leveraging mobile tech to make getting prescriptions less of a hassle, though. CVS also has its own app, which allows users to scan prescription bottle labels and send them to the store wirelessly, making the process of ordering prescription refills a little less of a pain. That app is available for the iPhone and for Android phones, and is free.
