It’s time to get Fido in on the fitness revolution. MapMyDOGWALK uses the iPhone’s GPS technology to track your dog walking path, while measuring calories burned, overall speed, time spent walking, and distance traveled. All data is uploaded to the user’s online account at MapMyWalk.com, where the route and exercise history can be reviewed. The MapMyWalk.com account serves as an all-in-one fitness planner, but users of the MapMyDOGWALK app can still use it to upload other exercise stats to the account, not just their dog walking.
The app has a few fun extras, too. Users can take pictures within the app, which will be geo-tagged and placed along the route, and can be viewed when the user reviews that route later on the app or the website. Social media and support for the iPod app running in the background are both present.
Back to fitness matters, the app supports Ant+ and BTLE, both of which monitor the user’s heart rate. While you’re out walking, you can check the app to see how far along you are on your route, too.
Looks like it’s time to get your four-legged buddy conditioned – if you’re one to get addicted to the stats coming from fitness apps, you’re going to have one tired dog on your hands. The MapMyDOGWALK app is available now for free on the iTunes App Store.
