As of today, Skype for Windows Phone Beta is, at long last, available for download, finally bringing Skype to Windows Phones. And it’s about time, since, you know, Microsoft actually owns Skype.

Users will be able to make free audio and video calls to Skype contacts over 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi connections, or make calls using Skype credit to landlines or mobile numbers. Reports say that there are still a few performance kinks to work out (it is a beta release, after all), but it works, and finally brings Skype to Windows Phones in true Windows Phone style.

The Nokia Lumia 710, Nokia Lumia 800, HTC Titan, HTC Radar, Samsung Focus S, and Samsung Focus Flash are all confirmed to work with the Skype Beta. You can check out the Skype blog here to download the beta by clicking on the provided link or scanning the QR code.
