If you have a Lenovo ThinkCentre M70z or M90z, you might want to think about stepping away from it for a little while. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall on the part of Lenovo for both models, due to a fire hazard. A defective component in the power supply is at risk of overheating and catching fire, prompting the recall of about 50,500 units. So, while the M70z and M90z didn’t exactly sell like hotcakes, there still are quite a few of the potentially combustible machines out there.
Those affected are encouraged to cease using the product and contact Lenovo to confirm whether or not their ThinkCentre is included in the recall. If it is, Lenovo will ship a replacement power supply free of charge. Meanwhile, we’ll go back to feeling relieved that that issue didn’t crop up during our review session with the M90z.
