Sprint EVO 4G LTE Offers DSLR Quality Camera, We Go Hands-On
Today with much fanfare, Sprint debuted their newest Smartphone – the EVO 4G LTE. The EVO represents a much long and fabled love affair between Sprint and HTC, and this newest addition only exemplifies that. The sleek lines of the phone, plus its emphasis on LTE, and of course, Beats audio, have all been loaded in to this black and red beauty. As a matter of fact, HTC was very concerned with the design aesthetic of the new EVO 4G LTE and it shows from the slender kickstand to its anodized casing and soft touch feel.
But not only will you want to make a phone call with this latest EVO, you will WANT to use it as a camera. The 8MP camera is nothing short of stellar, as it takes images and applies special effects with aplomb. The shutter burst feature took continuous photos within seconds. And Sprint and HTC are so dedicated to their camera feature that they made sure to include a dedicated camera button, which is something manufacturers are leaving out a lot nowadays.
Spec-wise, the phone packs in a 4.7″ HD Super LCD with a 720p resolution – which is complimented by a built-in kickstand. When it comes to CPU progress, it’s running on a 1.5ghz dual-core processor.
HD voice is yet another one of a kind feature Sprint and HTC are launching together. Ambient voice at crowded parties will be a thing of the past, and instead crisp and clear calls on the EVO will make it seem like the person is standing right next you, instead of on the other end of the phone. Sprint was kind enough to get Kiefer Sutherland to show off his vocal chops for a quick call using HD Voice. We didn’t see him per se, but we sure did hear him, and boy did he sound delicious.
All in all, the new HTC EVO 4G LTE is in for some stiff competition in this over saturated Smartphone market, but this latest Android 4.0 entry could be a serious contender and could potentially put Sprint back on the map. The device will retail for a reasonable $199 on contract.
