We know, after looking at that picture, you probably have an eyebrow arched sharply. But, you might be surprised at what the Fliz is capable of.
The Fliz sort of resembles a bicycle, but is powered by good old normal human running or walking. Why would you ever buy a bicycle powered by walking or running, you ask? Turns out, there are reasons.
Firstly, it takes a lot of pressure off of the joints when running. We all know about Newton’s Third Law of Motion – for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. With the Fliz, the reaction that goes from the ground up when foot strikes pavement is now dispersed over the entire apparatus, decreasing strain on knees, feet, and ankles. For people already struggling with joint pain, it’s a way to run without doing further damage to their bodies.
And, on that note, it’s a great invention for those in physical therapy or rehabilitation programs. Those recovering from severe leg injuries can use the Fliz to ease back into walking or running motions without suffering setbacks from too much stress early on in the program.
It looks like the Fliz is just in the concept phase right now, but for the right people, it’s a pretty cool concept that could give people with mobility problems a new way to get out and get active.
