The Relay is a 4G (HSPA+42) Android 4.0 phone with a 4” Super AMOLED screen, so it’s certainly no joke. Powering the phone will be a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 processor, which is also no slouch – it’s something found in more than a few flagship phones out on the market right now. There’s also a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, for your texting pleasure.
The Relay brings plenty of business-friendly features on top of that slide-out keyboard. Samsung gives all of its business phones a SAFE designation – Samsung Approved for Enterprise. That means the Relay will include IT policy support for mobile device management, AES 256-bit encryption, VPN solutions, and support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
Just to show that it’s not all business, the Relay has a 5 MP rear-facing camera capable of taking video in 720p. There is also a 1.3 MP front-facing camera. Those are probably the least impressive features on the phone, but are nowhere near bad.
Unfortunately, we can’t determine how good of a value this phone is – no specifics on pricing have been released by T-Mobile. All we know is that the Samsung Galaxy S Relay will be hitting T-Mobile stores sometime in the next few weeks. Keep your eyes peeled.
