Acer’s Windows 8 lineup is looking awfully impressive, and the last piece of the puzzle is this all-in-one PC. Granted, all-in-one PCs aren’t usually the most exciting devices out there, but the Acer Aspire 7600U might just be worthy of your attention.
First, it’s one of the thinnest all-in-ones ever made, at less than 1.4”. Of course, that means you’ll be able to mount it to your wall. Since the PC has the Acer Instant On technology going into most of the company’s Windows 8 devices, the 7600U can resume in about 1.5 seconds. HDMI out and in ports mean that you can also hook up video game consoles to the PC – depending on how you choose to watch your television shows, the 7600U could eliminate the need for a TV altogether, unless 27” isn’t big enough for you in the screen size department.
That 27” display is in 1920 x 1080 resolution, and features a ten-point capacitive touchscreen. In order to best use that touchscreen, you’ll be able to tilt the screen back at an 80 degree angle. The hinge is reinforced, so the screen won’t move when you’re just trying to use the touchscreen. If touch control isn’t your thing, a wireless keyboard and mouse come with the package, too.
Inside, you’ll find Windows 8 running on as powerful as a 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, NVIDIA GT640M graphics processor (not the greatest, but it’ll do for most games out there), and a combination Blu-ray/optical drive. You’ll also be able to get up to 1 TB of storage space. The 7600U also packs in a lot of ports, especially considering its thin frame – two USB 3.0 ports and four USB 2.0 ports, in addition to the HDMI in and out ports mentioned above.
The Acer Aspire 7600U will hit stores along with the rest of Acer’s Windows 8 launch lineup, including the smaller 23” 5600U all-in-one, on October 26. The 7600U will retail for about $1,900 at its cheapest configuration.
