Windows 8 will be upon us tomorrow, and then you can get yourself set up with Microsoft’s brand new operating system. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use Windows 8 to its fullest extent unless you have a touchscreen on your device. If you’re a laptop owner, sorry about that. If you own a desktop and are looking to upgrade, Dell has some good news for you.
The Dell S2340T 23” Multi-touch monitor is what it says it is – a computer monitor with multi-touch. In that sense, it’s optimized for Windows 8’s many touch-friendly features, including that new home screen. Touch (10 point touch, at that) isn’t the only thing this monitor has going for it – the display is Full HD, in 1920 x 1080 resolution. To make using touch more comfortable in multiple configurations, the display can be tilted backwards or forwards, and can lay flat.
Dell’s Image Enhance feature sharpens images and creates more color contrast to produce images that take full advantage of that Full HD screen. The display holds up to a variety of viewing angles, too, offering the same picture quality from as much as a 178 degree viewing angle.
I would say that this would be great for those who don’t want to buy a whole new computer just to take advantage of Windows 8, but unfortunately, the price says otherwise. For that $700 price tag, you could get pretty close to just buying yourself a new Windows 8-ready computer, anyway.
