Epson’s New WorkForce Printers Work Hard For Cheap

Did the office printer break down again? Good news – you have four new printers to choose from when you start shopping for a new one. Epson has announced four new all-in-one (printer/scanner/copier/fax) printers in their WorkForce line, which will be directed at businesses looking to become more environmentally friendly and economically efficient.

The WF-3540 and the WF-3520 are the high-end offerings, and offer the fastest two-sided print speeds on the market – 15 ISO ppm (black) and 9.2 ISO ppm (color). Epson claims you can save as much as 40 percent on ink costs compared to other color laser printers. Everything is printed two-sided by default, which takes the guesswork out of the process and makes sure that everyone in the office cuts down on their paper use without actually having to adjust settings. Extra-high volume ink cartridges cut down on how often you need to buy replacements. The main difference between the two is in LCD touchscreens – 3.5” for the WF-3540, and 2.5” for the WF-3520.

The WF-2540 and WF-2530 are the more compact models, but don’t sacrifice too much in the way of speed – 9 ISO ppm (black) and 4.7 ISO ppm (color). The ink in these printers dries instantly, and is resistant to water, smudging, and fading. The WF-2540 has a 2.5” LCD touchscreen along with Wi-Fi compatibility. The WF-2530 lacks an LCD touchscreen.

All four of the all-in-ones will feature the usual Epson connectivity options – Epson Connect allows for quick printing from a mobile device, and all devices are compatible with Google Cloud Print. All printers will also be able to save scanned documents as text-editable PDFs and will be stocked with DURABrite Ultra ink that dries instantly and holds up against water, smudging, and fading. Each printer will also feature a USB port, and all are said to cut down on energy consumption by up to 70 percent.

All four printers will become available this fall, with prices ranging from $100 to $200.
