Android App of the Week: SugarSync Gets an Extreme Makeover

SugarSync, the popular cloud storage service, is receiving a 2.0 upgrade that is now available as a free download in beta.

Longtime SugarSync users know that the old interface looked more like an Explorer window. The new version looks more like a mobile app, and streamlines the process of sharing and finding files. The new interface features four buttons at the top – cloud, sharing, activity, and search. Cloud displays all of your folders and files, while activity displays your recent activity, as well as that of any other person with whom you are sharing files or folders.

The sharing tab lists only files and folders that are shared with others, and allows you to drag and drop new files into destination folders. Search is simply a search function for all files you have stored using SugarSync.

SugarSync 2.0 has been designed to be more streamlined to use, and more efficient in terms of taking up device resources. Both are welcome changes. The beta of SugarSync 2.0 is available for free now on Google Play.

  1. I have been using GoodSync by Siber Systems for years because it allows me to sync to any local computer or connected drive on my network but also any other computer with an internet connection or any of the various cloud storage services I already utilized. I highly recommend GoodSync.
