Griffin IntelliCase for iPad Mini Review
Griffin’s IntelliCase for iPad mini isn’t just another iPad case. But this is an iPad Mini case that sports a magnet in its cover. That means that it works just like Apple’s own smart cover to automatically wake up your iPad Mini and put it into sleep.
Speaking of its cover, the IntelliCase’s cover is nice and thin. Its micro-texture surface is also strong yet lightweight, and looks like it will wear well. The magnet inside the cover is also very strong and does a good job of adhering close to the Mini’s display. The cover can of course fold into 2 positions for using your Mini at a low angle or in stand mode.
The back cover of the IntelliCase is made of a Hard-shell polycarbonate case. The good news is that this back cover is very strong and sturdy, and will help protect your Mini. The bad news is that the Hard-shell polycarbonate material used here is quite thick and heavy, more so than on many other cases we’ve seen. It’s also thicker than most back covers.
Griffin’s IntelliCase for iPad Mini retails for $39.99 and is available in a choice of black, red (maroon), or blue camouflage. While we wish that the back-piece had been made to be thinner and lighter, the price is right for this high quality iPad Mini case. After all, you could easily spend $49 on a similar case without a magnet in its cover.
The Good: Cover has a magnet, made of high quality materials, nice color selection
The Bad: Back piece is too heavy and thick
