Ready That Light Cycle – Tron 3 Making its Way Back to The Grid

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, a third Tron movie is in the works, with a director and writer in place.

The follow-up to 2010’s Tron: Legacy is as of yet untitled, but will be written by Jesse Wigutow, a relative newcomer to the world of screenwriting, but one who has been working with Disney on other as-of-yet unreleased projects. Nothing new about the director, though – that’ll still be Joseph Kosinski, director of Tron: Legacy. Whether or not that’s a good thing depends on what you thought of Legacy, which didn’t receive an especially enthusiastic reception upon release.

Still, Disney must see some potential in the returns from the 2010 film to warrant another one so soon. The only real bummer here is that it’ll be a Tron movie without Jeff Bridges. That, or they’ll have him in flashbacks, or devise some hack way to bring his character back – neither especially attractive options.
