JBL Speakers are Ready to Rumble, and Charge Your Phone Too

JBL has two new boomboxes coming your way, including one that’s promising to bring both the thunder and the Lightning.

The bass-heavy OnBeat Rumble features a massive 114 mm down-firing subwoofer that is guaranteed to enrage anyone living one floor below you (or maybe two or three below, for that matter). Along with that thunderous bass comes a Lightning dock up top, which will be able to support smaller devices like the iPhone 5 and larger devices like the fourth generation iPad. The OnBeat Rumble also has Bluetooth connectivity, so you can use just about any device under the sun with this boombox. Otherwise, there’s also auxiliary input.

The JBL Charge is a portable boombox, with every bit of emphasis placed on bass (it is a boombox, after all). There’s a built-in bass port and a healthy 6,000 mAh battery that JBL says will keep the Charge running for up to 12 hours at a time. No docks for this one – just Bluetooth, which should suit anyone looking for a solid portable speaker just fine, anyway. If you want, you can even use the USB port on the Charge for emergency back-up power for your other mobile devices.

The JBL OnBeat Rumble comes in at about $400, while you can get the smaller and lighter Charge for about $150.
