Tic-Tac-Toe, better known as that game you used to play all over those paper kids’ menus at restaurants, is getting probably the only major update it has ever gotten – in both app and board game form.
Tic-tac-toe as a board game, on the surface, sounds like it would be one of the shallowest ways to try to capitalize on a classic, simple game. Fortunately, Tic Stac Toe rises well above the surface. It’s actually a little more similar to Connect Four, once you get past the Xs and Os – using a 3×3, 4×4, or 5×5 grid, two players take turns stacking their pieces, trying to get three, four, or five (depending on the grid) in a row. You can even win with a diagonal of the conceptual cube, which you could probably sneak by a few players not paying enough attention.
Tic Stac Toe is also here in app form. Tic Stac Toe is now available for iOS for free, and features the same gameplay, only with different icons and backgrounds that you can customize, either by earning enough coins by playing the game or (preferably not) buying coins as in-app purchases.
The Tic Stac Toe app is available now, while the board game will make its debut at the American International Toy Fair, starting on February 10.
