It’s a new thermostat! Get excited? Sure, why not?
Honeywell has released a new thermostat for the information age, and it’s a smart thermostat that can be controlled by a free app. The Honeywell Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat is, as the name implies, Wi-Fi compatible, so you can use that app to control your thermostat from anywhere, like at work, just as you’re about to leave.
You can set daily and weekly schedules and, in case things get out of control or the kids mess with the thermostat again, you can have high or low temperature alerts sent to your phone. Eventually, the thermostat will be able to work out when you usually use the device, and will turn the heat or air conditioning on or off and the right times – granted, that might not be a popular feature with many, so hopefully you can disable that.
This thermostat also has a humidity sensor. In addition to app and push-button controls, the display is touch. You can also change the color of the display, so it doesn’t clash with the wallpaper too much.
The Honeywell Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat retails for $250 and is available online and at a variety of home improvement stores.
