JC Penney has not typically been a department store known for offering brands from home design icons, but that is all about to change. For 2013, it’s out with the old and in with the trendy! Martha Stewart, Jonathan Adler, Michael Graves, Bodum, Conran, and an assortment of other high-end, home accessory brands are moving into the department store. And the new and improved JC Penney home section kicked off with what else – a housewarming party last week. The guest-list included Martha Stewart, Nina Garcia and other fashion and home aficionados, whom were all excited to see JC Penney give their home and electrics section a much needed renovation.
I have never been one to scoff at JC Penney, in fact my mother was devoted catalog shopper for many years! But in any case, this new infusion of home decor icons is just what the home decor doctors ordered. So while these brands have already had a place at Macy’s and Bloomingdales for years, JC Penney needed a bit of a trendy pick-up that the likes of Michael Graves and the fun Pantone branded sheets and towels will bring to the store.
And for those who have grown accustomed to JC Penney’s more affordable pricing, they may be concerned that these new high-end items will alienate budget shoppers – but there is no need to fear. JC Penney is well aware of their core demographic and will continue to cater to them by making these new and exciting items in their Home Shop accessible and affordable for all. Furthermore, JC Penney is currently celebrating their new home section with some great deals, and many of the above brands are included. So lets start decorating!
