Canary is aiming to be the next evolutionary step in home security – one that doesn’t break the bank and, even better, doesn’t require a lengthy installation process.
Instead, it’s just a small tower absolutely packed to the brim with sensors. An HD camera with night vision and a wide angle lens can watch over a sensitive part of your home, or it can be used as a monitor for a nursery. There’s also a microphone and a speaker that can blast an alert siren, as well as a motion detector. Temperature, humidity, and air quality sensors monitor the inside of your home, and will pick up on any irregularities.
Canary can be connected to a Wi-Fi network, which is the key part. From a mobile app, you’ll be able to look in on the camera feed and sensor data at any time, or receive regular updates about any of that information. On top of that, you’ll get alerts when one of the sensors senses an unexpected spike or drop, or when motion is detected when you’re not expecting anyone to be home. You can also remotely trigger the alarm siren, if you’re worried there’s an intruder present. And, you won’t need to worry about arming and disarming deftly to avoid setting it off yourself – Canary arms and disarms itself using geofencing, sensing when you and your smartphone leave the premises.
Canary will also adjust its habits to your routine over time. And, as an extra bonus, Canary has room to store files, and features business-class encryption technology.
You can pre-order Canary now for $200 on the project’s Indiegogo page, which has already reached its $100,000 funding goal.
