You got to hand it to England, they love Jane Austen, and even more so, movie adaption’s of her books. Why else would you erect a 12-foot fiberglass statue of Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy in the Serpentine. So if you happen to be near this lake in Hyde Park, London, and love yourself some Colin Firth then you are in luck. I wonder how many women will actually take a boat out just to stroke the manly fiberglass statue and his wet rippling white shirt…
It took three months for the statue to be constructed and no detail was overlooked. The chiseled face, the pecs, the thick brown locks, and even a cleft chin have been included in this ode to classic dramas. So why the statue? To celebrate the launch of UKTV’s new channel Drama of course. And I don’t know about you, but I’m still partial to the rubber ducky floating in Hong Kong a few weeks ago.
