All those of years of multiple companies developing home camera and audio recording systems has finally reached the ultimate endpoint. The summit has been reached. Thanks to Petzila, you can stay in touch with two-way communications between any of your devices and your home, at any time. Stay in touch with your dog, that is.
Petzila is a device that plugs right in to an AC outlet, and includes a camera, a microphone, and a speaker. Once you plug it in, you can connect it to your home’s Wi-Fi network, then access the feed on a private server using any web browser or the accompanying app. Just set up a connection, and call your dog over – the speaker will broadcast your voice, and hopefully Fido or whoever will come running. From there, you can talk to your dog, or take video or snap a picture – you’ll be able to see the video feed on your device.
But will your dog really come running to some plastic thing hanging on the wall? Well, that’s where the admittedly pretty brilliant part of Petzila comes into play. You can load up the Petzila device with dog treats, then release a treat for your dog with a button press on your device. Use the treats as rewards when your dog responds to Petzila, and over time, your dog will become conditioned to respond to Petzila every time it goes off. It’s not much different from the classic Pavlov’s dogs experiment, hence why Petzila calls it their Pavlovian Surprise.
So, if you need to be able to say what’s up to your dog at literally any time, no matter where you are, head over to Petzila’s Indiegogo page. Their funding goal has already been met, so there should be no obstacles between you and your Petzila when it ships this December. You can still get a unit for yourself for a $99 contribution.
