Honeywell’s Wi-Fi equipped thermostats already allowed you to control your home’s temperature using nothing more than your smartphone and an app paired with the device. That included changing the temperature on the thermostat (remotely, from work, if you needed to), scheduling the heater or air conditioner to come on at a certain time, or receiving extreme temperature or humidity alerts. So, if you wanted to get heat or cooling going while you’re on your way home from work or school, the new thermostats were a must-have.
Now, they’re even more intriguing. Taking a cue from the kind of voice control you see in Samsung Smart TVs or Google Now, you can execute voice commands by saying “Hello, thermostat.” Alright, that might be a little weird at first. I’m sure you’ll get used to it. After all, it sounds pretty convenient – according to Honeywell, commands can range from specific to general, including “make it four degrees warmer” or “make it much cooler.”
The Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control will hit stores this November for about $350.
