Are you getting tired of zombie survival planning with your friends every week? If yes, then your resolve is weak, and you’re not going to last more than a few months. Also if yes, instead of having the zombie talk with your friends for the next six weeks, you can go watch other people have that discussion on television, because it’s important to get other perspectives/steal ideas if you want to stay alive when it all goes down.
Starting next Tuesday at 10:00 PM ET/PT, Syfy will start running Fangasm, a six-episode documentary series/reality show about seven superfans and their experiences as lowly interns at Comikaze. They’ll help prep for Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles in November, put on by the man, Stan Lee, himself. The seven fans – three girls and four guys in their twenties – are fully steeped in the world of geek culture, which brings them to Mr. Lee’s doorstep.
Fortunately, unlike most reality shows, it sounds like we’ll be spared the heavy-handed, drummed-up drama of weekly eliminations. Of course, that’s partly because these seven are interns, which already makes this a more seedy and cutthroat kind of competition than reality TV could ever aspire to, anyway. Indeed, one of the seven might get a full-time gig out of the show. I’m sure there are interns everywhere who read that last sentence and rolled their eyes in knowing disillusionment.
During the six weeks, there will be appearances from Stan Lee, Cassandra Peterson (better known as Elvira), and George Takei, so you literally will see some fangasms if you watch all six weekly episodes. Anyway, remember to watch come next Tuesday, so you can better plan for the ultimate competition in life – the one that starts when the dead begin to rise.
