Lenovo is following up their initial foray into the Windows 8 tablet arena, the 10” Miix, with the Miix2, an 8” tablet that will come running Windows 8.1 out of the box.
The quasi-budget Miix2 will feature a 1280 x 800 WXGA display. The processor will be from Intel’s mobile line – a quad-core Bay Trail Atom processor with integrated Intel HD graphics. The Miix2 also provides more storage space than the average tablet, coming with 128 GB of eMMC storage along with a microSD card slot. The cameras are respectable enough – a 2 MP front-facing camera, and a 5 MP camera on the back.
One nice bonus is that the Miix2 will come with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 for free. There’s also a stylus and a cover that you can choose to purchase along with the device.
Overall, the Miix2 looks to be a good value, but it’s about to enter the Windows 8 tablet space which is getting more and more competitive.
