Matt Smith will don the rain poncho, take up the axe, and obsess over business cards when the musical premieres in December. Smith was a stage guy before making it big on Doctor Who, so this will be a return to old environs for him. Unfortunately, I can’t speak to his singing voice, but I sure hope he can do a good Whitney Houston.
American Psycho will debut at the Almeida Theatre in Islington, North London on December 3, and will run until January 25. Music and lyrics will be by Duncan Sheik (he did that one song, Barely Breathing, if you recognized the name but couldn’t possibly for the life of you place him), but there had better be room in there for Hip to be Square, or no sale. In the meantime, you can start preparing your hours-long incisive comparison of the Doctor to Patrick Bateman.
