Among doubtless many other things, October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month. NCSAM started as a joint effort between the government and the tech industry, but this year, it’s just Intel and McAfee providing ‘digital lifehacks’ to ring in the occasion. Maybe because the government is too busy – you know what, I’m not even going to make that joke.
Considering that this began as a government initiative, you might expect the list of tips and tricks included in this ‘digital lifehacks’ business to be the kind of cornball stuff you learned years ago. And that might still be true. But, there’s a lot of legitimately good suggestions here that make the list worth poring over, like how to maximize your use of https and why you should use a VPN.
The better part of NCSAM, though, is the discounts and giveaways. If you check out the tips, you can enter to win a Dell XPS 12 with a complementary subscription to McAfee LiveSafe. Besides that, there are discount offers for VPNs, security software, and computer accessories.
You can check out Intel and McAfee’s bag of tricks here. Good luck on not getting hacked/phished/Nigerian prince scammed this month!
