Google and Motorola are pulling off a holiday surprise, pushing up the United States release date of the Moto G. If you want to give or get a Moto on the cheap this year, now you most definitely can.
The Moto G is a cheaper version of the Moto X, but doesn’t take too much of a hit in the spec department. There are a couple goodies missing from the Moto G, though, – 4G and the customization options of the Moto X. Even though there will be no Moto Maker, there will be some customization options. You can order different colored backs and flip covers, at least. There are slight dips in hard specs, too, but the Moto G generally holds up pretty well to the Moto X.
For now, only a GSM Moto G will be available for purchase. You can buy it unlocked for $180 for the 8 GB model and $200 for the 16 GB model as of today. There will be a CDMA Moto G, too, but you’ll need to wait until January.
