Hands-on with the New 2015 Ford Mustang

It’s still 2013, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start talking about the 2015 Ford Mustang. And, for good reason – the 2015 model will represent quite the milestone for the Mustang. Next year will be the 50th consecutive year that the Mustang has been in production, something very few other makes of cars can boast.

The consummate red sports car will be packing a punch when it hits the road next year – literally. According to Ford reps, the front end has been designed with a fist breaking through glass in mind – needless to say, there’s going to be a lot of power inside the 2015 Mustang. You just have to look at the 5.0-Liter V8 engine to confirm that. The engine will be capable of over 420 horsepower, so this model will definitely live up to its name.

It also has the trademark Mustang triple taillights, along with an extended hood that pushes the cabin back a little bit. Those two features together make the 2015 model resemble older Mustangs from the ’60s, just with a modern update. The interior, replete with leather, aluminum, and vinyl, is also classic Mustang, with large, circular gauges, toggle switches, and a ball stickshift. Again, the design team looks like it has done a great of combining the classic and the modern.

While you wait anxiously for the release of the 2015 Mustang, you can celebrate the Mustang’s 50th birthday from now until the big day – April 17. You can check out Mustang Countdown on YouTube, where you can find features about the evolution of the Mustang, and what the car meant in the past and means in the present.
